South West Empowering Communities Consortium |
|
Faithnetsouthwest is a member of the Empowering Communities Consortium. This group is working to get more people in the South West involved and influencing the decisions that affect their lives and local communities. The initiative is seeking to increase the number of people, particularly in disadvantaged areas, who participate in public issues, press for and contribute to the improvement of public services, and help to shape the future of the place where they live.
Empowering Communities is the South West consortium of a national programme, the National Empowerment Partnership, funded by the Department of Communities & Local Government (CLG) to improve the quality and functioning of relationships between citizens and government, and to enable people to influence decisions which affect them. Targeted Support
Faithnetsouthwest has funding for a new project aimed at increasing the participation in the community of young people aged 16-25, and people from BME communities. The project will highlight existing good practice and the role of faith groups in promoting and empowering these groups to participate more in activities both locally and at a strategic level.
